A Museum with the most complete collection of keris will be built in the city of Solo. The entire collection of keris from all regions in Indonesia will be collected at the museum.
Solo Mayor, FX Hadi Rudyatmo, said that keris museum will serve as educational media for children. At a later date, he said, the next generation could gain knowledge about the keris and keris way.
The museum is funded from the central government budget worth Rp35 billion.
Construction of the museum will occupy the former hospital RSJ Mangunjaya. The hospital itself has been designated as a cultural heritage. Therefore, the construction of the museum building will not dismantle the hospital.
