After the government, through the Ministry of Industry, gives the green light to rise the prices of Low Cost Green Cars (LCGC), PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) will increase the price of its cheap cars, Agya, in October 2014.
“The price should have been up in October, but we have yet to talk more about how much the increase, whether go through the maximum ceiling or not,” said Rahmat Samulo, Marketing Director of TAM, to the press on Saturday (20/9).
According to Samulo, if Toyota raised the price up to the maximum ceiling permitted by the government (6.6%), it would not affect the purchasing power of the consumers. “Increase at that percentage will be the same with the inflation rate, so the public should have expected it,” he continued.
With such a scheme, the prices may apply to the lowest variance, E manual transmission, which is currently priced at Rp100.35 million will become Rp106.97 million. Meanwhile, the highest variance of Agya TRD S automatic transmission could be Rp8.002 million more expensive from the current price of Rp121.25 million on-the road in Jakarta. Currently TAM is still studying whether the price increase will be applied in stages or all at once. (jok)
