President-elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has stated that Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Mineral Entrepreneurs Poltak Sitanggang is one of the candidates of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). The statement was made while Jokowi was attending the National Meeting of Activists 98 in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday (27/9).
“The name (Poltak Sitanggang) has been listed, I have received the list,” said Jokowi in a press release written by Activists 98 in Jakarta, on Sunday (28/9).
In answering the question by Activists 98, Jokowi said that Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources in his cabinet will not only master in the management of oil and gas and mining, as well as having a strong leadership, but also have the courage to combat the mafia in oil and gas.
“The person should be bold in fighting against the mafia, because they have been burdening the state budget by mark up pricing,” said Jokowi.
The name of Poltak Sitanggang is also proposed to become Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources by KabinetRakyat.org and Beranilawanmafia.com. He is currently Chairman of the Standing Committee on Energy and Mining at the Indonesian Chambers and Commerce (Kadin). Poltak agreed on the plan to freeze Petral as proposed by the Transition Team of Jokowi-JK. (jok)
