President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has revealed his economic projections of Indonesia at the 100th Independence Day in 2045. He is optimistic that Indonesia’s economy will much better in the future.
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP), according to him, will reach US$9.1 trillion with income per capita of US$29,000 in 2045. This projection is based on the assumption that the Indonesia’s population will reach 309 million and the economic growth is at the level of 5-6%.
“In the year 2045 the number of our population will be 309 million and our economic growth will be between 5% and 6%. The GDP will be at US$9.1 trillion, the income per capita will be at US$29,000 while now is only at US$3.500. This is a huge leap,” said Jokowi during the Rakernas BPP (Central Executive Body) of Hipmi at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday (3/27).
Surely the role of Human Resources (HR) becomes very important in growing the Indonesia’s economy in the future. The young generation should be able to create major breakthroughs in generating jobs.
“If we success in improving human resources, we will be strong, but if we fail, it will be a huge burden,” said Jokowi.
In the year 2045, Jokowi said he was sure Indonesia will become the country with the fourth largest economy in the world. This projection has been calculated by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani.
“In the year 2045, God willing, Indonesia will become the fourth largest economy in the world. I believe in this projection because the ones who calculate it are masters. Who would doubt Sri Mulyani, who would doubt Darmin Nasution?” said Jokowi.
