JAKARTA, presidentpost.com – The Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) and the Indonesian Industrial Estate Association (HKI) have agreed to cooperate in inter-estate access.

ALFI Chairman Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi said his party had discussed with HKI and formulated a number of cooperation points.

“HKI welcomes and of course this will be communicated to the members of both associations and to the relevant ministries,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/19).

According to Yukki, there are two things that become important points in the agreement. First, HKI agrees to open access between the industrial estates. Second, there may be two or three locations of logistics centers in each estate.

However, Yukki declined to further detail the cooperation. He only emphasized that the cooperation is not only a matter related to the limitation of truck operational hours. “We did not talk about trucks only, but more than that.”

The cooperation of ALFI and HKI was established to find a solution from the plan to limit the operational hours of trucks on the Jakarta – Cikampek toll road.

Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) will ban logistics trucks to pass through in peak hours of 6 am to 9 am.

Previously, HKI Chairman Sanny Iskandar said he understood the conditions experienced by the logistics entrepreneurs regarding the many restrictions on truck operating hours on the highway.

“If it is restricted everyday how can we run it. Saturday and Sunday are restricted, holidays are restricted. While they say they want to increase the competitiveness,” he said.

To that end, his association is ready to open access in the estates to make the traffics on the highway run smoothly.

According to Sanny, about 40% of the trucks passing through the Cawang-Cikampek highway were empty on their return to the base. HKI advises the truck owners to rent a land plot in an industrial estate to park the trucks.

Thus, the empty trucks do not need to run on the toll road. In addition to reducing congestion, it is also considered more efficient on the operational side. (BNS/TPP)
