SURABAYA, presidentpost.com – Indonesia still lags in term of logistics efficiency. Therefore, the government is trying to catch up by adding more Bonded Logistics Centers (PLBs).
President Director of PT Cipta Krida Bahari (CKB Logistics), Imam Sjafei, said that the government is intensively developing PLBs with the target to make Indonesia as an Asia-Pacific logistics hub. ”PLBs assure the acceleration of the distribution of raw materials to the industries. So, the production can be timely,” he said during the inauguration of PLB Hub Logistics CKB Logistics warehouse in Surabaya on Wednesday (9/6).
The 30 thousand square meters of warehouse was built with an investment of Rp20 billion. The warehouse is targeted to reduce the imports, because all this time the domestic industries stored their raw materials in Malaysia or Singapore.
PLB Hub Logistics is the fourth PLB in East Java after PLB Kamajaya, PLB Adi Perkasa, and PLB Indra Jaya Swastika. Since the inauguration of the first PLB in March 2016, the PLB growth in Indonesia has been increasing rapidly.
Late last year, there were only 28 PLB. The number increased to 73 in early September and is targeted to reach one hundred units later this year. The total investment in the PLBs is estimated to reach Rp910 trillion.
Chairperson of the Association of Indonesia Bonded Logistics Centers Ety Puspitasari added that PLB will reduce the cost to get the goods out of the port to transport them to the warehouse up to 40 percent. The customs processing time is also cut from four to five days to two days. “The dwelling time is shortened.” she said. (JWP/TPP)
