On May 9, 2012 during the demonstration flight the Russian aircraft “Sukhoi Superjet 100” had an accident in Indonesia. Location of the accident was discovered on May 10, 2012 near Jakarta in arduous territory on the slope of Mt. Salak at the height of 1500 meters. The Indonesian SAR groups are working on the site. At the moment there is no information on any of the passengers survived.
According to available information on board there were 45 people including 8 Russians, as well as citizens of Indonesia, Italy, France and USA.
The Russian side is ready to take an active part in the investigation process on the reasons of the tragedy jointly with the Indonesian partners. With this aim a group of Russian experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Interstate Aviation Committee, the JSC “United Aircraft Corporation” and the SCA “Sukhoi Civil Aircraft” arrived to Jakarta.
In connection with the incident the Russian Embassy in Jakarta organized a crisis center which survey situation 24-hour a day and closely interact with local authorities. The assistance is also provided to the representatives of the SCA “Sukhoi Civil Aircraft” and Russian agencies who arrived to Indonesia. The Embassy is ready to provide relatives of the Russian citizens who were on board of the jet with consular support if needed.
