U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel is hosting a series of Buka Puasas to join with Indonesian colleagues to celebrate the breaking of the fast during Ramadan. Ambassador Marciel hosted Indonesian leaders including Priyo Budi Santoso, the Deputy Speaker of the House of the Representatives, Din Syamsuddin, the Chairman Muhammadiyah, and Dr. KH Ali Mustafa Yaqub, Imam of the Istiqal Mosque (visited by President Obama). The Ambassador highlighted the importance of tolerance and religious understanding. He commented that in the United States more and more Americans are participating in Ramadan events.
